Andrea has been with NEWSED since 2006, first as the Development Director and currently as the President and CEO since the beginning of 2018. Prior to NEWSED she worked for organizations such as the Chinook Fund, The Denver Foundation and the Denver Inner City Parish in all areas of program/event coordination, administration, programming and development. Andrea has a Bachelor Degree in Political Science and a Masters in Public Administration with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management from the University of Colorado at Denver. At NEWSED Andrea is responsible for facilitating NEWSED’s vision, mission, goals and objectives in coordination with the staff and board of directors. Andrea also serves as the Santa Fe Business Improvement District board President and provides administration and oversight through NEWSED.

Jessica Franklin

Development Director

Jessica joined NEWSED in January 2019, as the Development Director. Jessica has over a decade of nonprofit experience starting as an AmeriCorps VISTA and working her way up to Development Director. Prior to joining NEWSED she worked for the Denver Inner City Parish, Colorado Children’s Campaign and Metro Denver Partners/GRASP. Jessica has a Bachelor degree in Journalism, Public Relations and a Masters in Nonprofit Management from Regis University. At NEWSED Jessica is responsible for implementing fundraising efforts and increasing public awareness of NEWSED and its mission.

Veronica Acosta

Homeownership Counseling Manager

In 1996 Veronica and her family moved to Denver from Mexico; shortly after, she and her husband started their own Mortgage Company working with families to help them realize their dreams of owning a home. She extended her knowledge in several aspects of the lending industry. She received her lending education at the National Lender Services Inc. and worked as a Home Mortgage Consultant for more than 12 years with companies like Wells Fargo Mortgage. Veronica started working with NEWSED CDC in 2009 as a pre-purchase and foreclosure housing counselor. Veronica became the Homeownership Counseling Manager in 2018 to support and oversee all housing counseling activities.

Anaihs Espinoza

Home Ownership Counselor

Anaihs started with NEWSED at the end of 2016. Prior to NEWSED she worked in project management for a construction company for several years. Currently she is working toward her B.A. in Business and HR at CSU Global. At NEWSED she is responsible for Home Ownership and Foreclosure Counseling. Anaihs also takes care of the First Time Home Buyer’s Class logistics.

Terry Trujillo

Home Ownership Counselor

Terry Trujillo is a Housing counselor with NEWSED and provides counseling for First Time Homebuyers, Credit and Foreclosure programs. She conducts training certification for the Housing Counseling Workshops. Terry is a Native of Colorado and has over 20 years of experience in Banking, Residential Lending, Underwriting, Loss Mitigation, and Business Development. As a former small business owner, she values her community by volunteering with various non-profits and looks forward to the growth within NEWSED and the community.

Juanita Herrera

Juanita was born and raised in Denver and joined NEWSED at the end of May, 2018. For the last eight years she worked for non-profit organization The Denver Inner City Parish as the Office Manager specifically for their program La Academia. While there she was also responsible for event coordination, fundraising efforts, and assisted the Director of the Summer Day Camp program. She is currently working towards her A.A. in accounting at the Community College of Denver. When completed she will then move on to her B.A and M.A. at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Louis L. Besses IV

Louis has been with NEWSED since June 2019, as the Small Business Program Director. An advocate for entrepreneurship, Louis has mentored and advised in companies across various sectors including Ed-Tech, Retail, Construction, and Financial Services. Currently, he serves as a Mentor to Latino Entrepreneurs participating in an course on scaling your business offered in a collaboration between LBAN and Stanford University Graduate School of Business program. Louis holds a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and two master degrees, one in marketing with a graduate certificate of specialization in brand and customer management and another in business administration. He also is an accredited small business consultant (ASBC) from the Association of Accredited Small Business Consultants. Louis develops and oversees the strategic vision of NEWSED’s business ecosystem including business training, coaching, and retail incubation programs at The Zone Marketplace. He ensures that NEWSED programs are mission-aligned and meet the needs of our entrepreneurs.
