NEWSED’s eight-week Business Basics course is designed to give students a complete and concise guide to all the essential elements of creating and growing any type of business. The course starts by attending an Orientation and upon completing the Business Basics Course a special graduation is held and access to various specialized programming: one-on-one business coaching and mentoring, loan opportunities, financial counseling, retail incubation and continued specialized training.

This NEWSED course covers the basics of business marketing, sales, financial management, and operations.

NEWSED Courses & Workshops

We encourage individuals that are prospecting opening a business to attend our monthly Start-Up Business Workshop. This two-night workshop gives attendees a brief overview of the various things to consider when pursuing or growing a business. You’ll hear from our banking partners, guest speakers and get a brief rundown of our extended eight-week Business Basics Course and Orientation.

More about Orientation

The Business Basics Course is a requirement for accessing NEWSED’s services, including extended business courses, loans, coaching, and incubation. In this eight-week course, entrepreneurs meet once per week for three hours with peers and business coaches to learn the basics of business marketing, sales, financial management, and operations. After completing the Business Basics Course, entrepreneurs have access to NEWSED’s full range of small business services.
