NEWSED CDC EMAP Application Reviewer

Part-Time (20-25 hrs/week)
Reports to: EMAP Program Manager

Job Summary

In October 2021, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, through its Division of Housing, established the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program, NEWSED became a partner of the State to help mitigate financial hardships associated with the coronavirus pandemic for homeowners in Colorado. The reviewer will be responsible in providing applicant with approval or denial of program assistance by reviewing application against program guidelines.

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with the CMS Neighborly and all other programs that will be utilized to enhance the delivery of outcomes for this program.
  • Review all EMAP client applications and supporting documents against program checklist to ensure all necessary information is included for approval.
  • Obtaining and request additional information as needed on all documents to help determine application approval.
  • Ensure once all information is gathered that it is accurate, compliance standards are met, and it is in congruence with program guidelines.
  • Work with both internal housing councilors and other organization’s councilors on client applications that were submitted with the assistance of the assigned councilor.
  • Communicate with client or housing councilor with the status of application throughout the entire process keeping them informed and up to date.
  • Communicate and document reasons for approval or rejection of assistance so clients are well informed of decisions.
  • Ensure EMAP client payment requests are sent to manager in a timely order to ensure funding is going out in compliance with EMAP program.
  • Keeping client files updated and organized in both internal systems as well as state provided CMS neighborly system.
  • Send applications for review or with additional documentation to assigned QC personnel obtaining a final application decision.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with mortgage terms. Understanding of foreclosure and loss mitigation processes
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Problem solver. Great attention to detail and ability to keep information confidential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products such as but not limited to Microsoft word, excel, power point, team, outlook.
  • Oral and written communication skills

NEWSED CDC Counselor Assistant

NEWSED CDC Counselor Assistant
Part-Time (20-30 hrs./week)
Report to: Housing Counseling Program Manager

Job Summary

The Counselor Assistant is responsible for providing intake and support services to the Newsed CDC Housing Counseling efforts. The position will manage initial phone calls and assist Housing Counseling Program Manager and Housing counselors with customers who are looking for first time home buyer counseling, home buyer workshops, E-home education, and foreclosure Prevention Counseling. The Counselor Assistant is expected to maintain confidential customer files and customer information and adhere to policies and procedures for confidentiality.

Core duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct customer service including sending out the initial intake and client’s forms, scheduling client’s appointments, returning client’s call and triaging clients to the appropriate Housing Counselor.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the program Manager and to the Housing Counselors.
  • Organize and prepare initial file for Housing Counselor.
  • Conduct research and maintain updated databases, spreadsheets, and lists for various customer categories, referrals, and data collection.
  • Data entry into management system
  • Use professional standards of privacy and confidentiality while documenting customer information.
  • Coordinate 30 minutes follow up for online homebuyer class in English and Spanish.
  • Coordinate first time homebuyer class in English and Spanish.
  • Work as part of an interagency team in strategic and case triage meetings
  • Complies with organizational policies, including contract policies and procedures.
  • Assist with other agency related projects as needed.
  • These may vary and will be assigned, as needed by the Supervisor/ Lead Homeownership Counselor.

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience in lending or real estate coupled with experience in mortgage banking. (Preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite software, with strong Microsoft Excel or Access skills and ability to extract and run reports from internal database.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities in a fast-paced team environment and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent filing and organizational skills demonstrated across a range of administrative processes and procedures.
  • Ability to design and maintain effective record keeping systems.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Ability to support the production and distribution of complex grants and financial monitoring reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Must be dependable, dedicated, and flexible regarding working some evenings and/or weekend hours.
  • Ability to demonstrate accurate and timely response to customer inquiries.
  • Demonstrates ability to function independently and make independent and sound judgments.
